From Paper to a Means of Life
These necklaces are handmade by women at the Mildmay AIDS hospital in Kampala, Uganda. Each bead is made from pieces of discarded paper (calendars, posters, brochures, magazines) by cutting them into triangles and hand rolling them into the bead shape. They are then clear coated to protect them and hung to dry. The beads are sorted and strung together with small glass beads and closed off with a clasp so you can easily open and close the necklace for wearing. Each bead and necklace is a totally unique piece of art that is making a huge difference in the lives of women in Uganda and the communities they live in.
Necklaces come in a variety of colours and sell for only $12.00 each. Please specify preferred colour and quantity with your order. Please note: each necklace is individually handmade and the final colour, length and style will vary from piece to piece. Order some now!
